Fine Art Registry (FAR) Misrepresentation of Facts Regarding Park West Dali Collection

Recently Fine Art Registry posted an article misrepresenting statements made by an auctioneer during a Park West Gallery cruise art auction. In a video secretly taped aboard the RCCL Enchantment of the Seas the auctioneer can clearly be heard to say, regarding the Divine Comedy by Salvador Dali:

“…to complete the edition of woodcuts took him 14 years…”

In an article posted on the FAR website, they state:

“In the video she (the auctioneer) states quite clearly that Dali spent 14 years carving the woodblocks from which the Divine Comedy prints were made.”

The auctioneer, in fact, never addressed the wood blocks at all. The wood engravings were created between 1960 and 1964 after 100 watercolors painted between 1951 and 1960. Dali was, indeed, involved with this project for 14 years, as he worked closely with the engravers during the entire project to supervise the work.
