Fine Art Registry® (FAR) Posts Deliberately Misleading Information through an Eight-Year-Old Article
Makes no attempt to inform readers of court ruling in favor of the Albaretto family
On February 16, 2009, Fine Art Registry (FAR) posted an eight-year-old article published by RP German News Online that mentioned a long-resolved challenge brought against the Albaretto family. As with several other articles republished by FAR, Fine Art Registry made no attempt to inform readers of the outcome, which exonerated Dr. Mara Albaretto and the artworks involved.
THE FACTS:
In November of 2000 the Prosecuting Attorney of the Court of Augsburg declared he would not pursue legal proceedings against Dr. Mara Albaretto. The 1997 investigation mentioned at the end of the article was also decided in the Albaretto’s favor, with all works being returned to Dr. Giuseppe Albaretto, who was completely exonerated. The 1997 investigation involved a museum show at the Palazzo Bricherasio in Italy, for which the exhibition catalog introduction was written by archivist Albert Field. Mr. Field also authenticated the complete Albaretto collection of paintings and graphics that same year.
