The Truth About Mark Jacobs and His Campaign
On July 25th, an auctioneer conducting a cruise art auction for Park West Gallery aboard the Royal Caribbean "Jewel of the Sea" was approached by the father of Mark Jacobs, who wanted the auctioneer to help get $600 worth of free transfers to the airport for him and his family. The auctioneer explained that he could not help with this request, at which point the auctioneer was told that if he didn’t help the man was going to tell auction attendees that Park West was selling fake artwork and doing fake bidding.
At the next auction, about 20 minutes into the preview, a guest approached the auctioneer with a sheet of paper with excerpts and links to internet articles regarding Park West Gallery. The flyer had been handed out by Mark Jacobs, the son of the man asking for the free transfers. Most of the links listed were “press releases” put out by Fine Art Registry, an internet company being sued by Park West Gallery for defamation.
